Everything here also lives inside the app itself, just tap the ? icon on the Collections screen any time.
Collections overview
- Create a collection
- Tap + in the top right → New collection.
- Name and notes
- Open the collection, tap the pencil icon in the top right.
- Cover photo
- Chosen automatically: the first photo on the first place inside that has one.
- Deleting
- Swipe the collection left → Delete. This also deletes every place inside it.
Adding a place
- Search as you type
- In the Search tab, suggestions appear live as you type.
- Current location
- "Use current location" adds the place you're standing at right now.
- Paste from Maps
- Copy a link from Apple or Google Maps, then tap "Paste from Maps".
- Share from a Maps app
- Use the share icon in Maps → Dearplace. It's waiting in a banner the next time you open the app.
- No collection yet?
- Tap "New collection" right from the search result, and it's created on the spot with the place already saved inside.
Editing a place
- Photos
- Up to 5 per place. Swipe through them if there's more than one.
- Notes & category
- The category you choose sets the place's label colour immediately.
- Moving a place
- Folder icon in the toolbar: pick a different collection to move it to.
- Map preview
- Tap it to jump to that exact spot on the Map tab.

Activity
Every category gets its own colour automatically. Manage your categories from the tag icon on the Collections screen: rename, reorder, add, or remove them any time.
Map
Every place from every collection, together on one map. Tap a pin for details, and filter by category from the bar at the bottom.
Backup, restore & sharing
- Your whole library
- Collections → + → Back up all collections… Restore it again via + → Import…
- Sharing one collection
- Share icon on the collection page: as text (a readable list with Maps links), or as a Dearplace file (fully re-importable, photos included).
